Rodney worked in the American entertainment industry for almost 25 years. He debuted as an actor in the 1988 film War Party. He then portrayed the character Brave On Horse in the comedy-drama film Powwow Highway.

But his breakthrough role came in 1990 when the actor did the Oscar-winning film Dances with Wolves. The movie which won seven Oscars out of 12 nominations granted him a wide range of recognition as a Native American actor.

After that, in the period of 1990s, Rodney did some other notable films like The Doors, Dark Blood, Son of the Morning Star, Lakota Moon, Wild, Wild West, and The Jack Bull

Despite giving hit projects of his career, Grant once went through a tough time getting roles. In early 1990, while giving an interview on Capitol Hill, he said,

″To tell you the truth, right now I don’t have an occupation,″

However, he later returned back and acted in movies till 2012. His other acting credits include Ghosts of Mars, Don’t Come Knocking, Genghis Khan, Shouting Secret, and Dark Blood. He has also made several TV appearances.
