At the moment, however, he’s way ahead of all the other kids. As per his mother, he is working with a professor at his own college.

Xen Martin Was Diagnosed With Autism At 18 Months

Campbell and Martin became parents for the first time on 8th September 2009. They were overjoyed with the arrival of their baby boy, Xen. However, neither of them knew what they signed up for – Xen was declared autistic when he was 18 months old.

To further add, it was actually his mother who suspected something unusual in her son. After he got his Hepatitis B shot, Tisha began noticing changes in his behavior. As a concerned parent, she took him to the hospital; then and there, she got the bad news. In the beginning, the doctors even warned the couple about how their boy won’t ever be able to speak again.

The actress has also expressed the struggles Xen faced when he was a kid through one of her posts. She’s written,

“There was a time when he couldn’t speak. There was a time he wasn’t able to say; ‘momma’, ‘ouch’, let alone, ‘I love you’. There was a time when he couldn’t stand the touch of another human being. There was a time when I wasn’t able to kiss, hold or hug him. He said, ‘Kissing hurts my skin!’ It’s like fire! It’s like I’m being burned!'”

His Parents Are Very Supportive Of Him Despite The Challenges

Overlooking all the struggles, the actors did a marvelous job raising their kids. They did what had to be done to help him cope with the challenges of being autistic.

Even more so, Tisha co-founded the organization, Colored My Mind. It is a non-profit organization that tirelessly works to spread awareness of autism. Additionally, she also produced a short movie, Colored My Mind, with the help of other mothers of children on the spectrum.

Young Martin Has Achieved A Lot So Far And Refuses To Call Himself Autistic

Because of all the help he received when young, Xen has achieved a lot despite having autism. From being totally mute to being able to have a full-fledged conversation, he’s grown well mentally and emotionally too. Currently, he has his own driver’s license, possibly has a girlfriend, and goes to college as a zoology aspirant.

Campbell-Martin Welcomed Baby No. 2 In 2009

Martin became a big brother on 8th September 2009. His younger sibling, Ezekiel Czar Martin was welcomed into this world that day. Evidently, he was born 13 days prior to his due date. The boys’ famed mother was 40 at the time and couldn’t contain her happiness.

While expressing her joy with People, she said,

“I am enjoying it. I’m 40, and having a baby!”

Contrary to how difficult her pregnancy with Xen was, the Rita Rocks star had an easy pregnancy with Ezekiel. In her own words, she was previously on “bed rest” when pregnant with her first child but got to enjoy “every nauseous moment” when with the second.

Furthermore, her son’s autism diagnosis surprisingly didn’t come in the way between the siblings. In addition to his parents waiting for a long time before they tried again, Xen was prepared well to adjust to his baby brother. In turn, they did such a great job that he couldn’t wait for Czar’s arrival.

His Mom & Dad Ended Their Two Decades-Long Marriage Officially In 2020

Despite building a lovely family together, Tisha and Duane separated. Nonetheless, their relationship ended way before they got a divorce. Reports confirm they decided to live separately on 24 December 2016.

The announcement of their split, however, was only made two years later. Campbell released a statement to E! News. She said,

“After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to annoucne that I’ve filed for divorce.”

After tying the knot on 17th August 1996, the former pair officially split on 18th December 2020. They had an amicable divorce with no chaos or drama whatsoever. Even to this date, both of Xen’s mom and dad are very good friends with one another. Besides, they also are co-parents to their beautiful sons.
