Amy Sherrill, once a cheerleader, is known as the former wife of Tim Duncan, one of basketball’s all-time great players and coaches. The two were married for several years before their relationship ended in divorce.

Who Is Amy Sherrill?
Sherrill, born in April 1977 in North Carolina to Fred and Judy Sherrill, attended Wake Forest University. There, she pursued a degree in psychology and continued her cheerleading, something she had been involved in since high school.
In 2001, the year she married Tim Duncan, Amy became vice chair of the Tim Duncan Foundation. The foundation focused on health awareness and research, education, and youth sports and recreation in San Antonio, Winston-Salem, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
During its first two years, the foundation collected over $350,000 to fund research on breast and prostate cancer.
Duncan and Sherrill Were College Sweethearts
Duncan first met Amy in 1992 while they were both enrolled at Wake Forest University. He was making a name for himself on the basketball court, while his wife, Amy, was part of the cheerleading squad. Their relationship began the following year in 1993.

They Divorced in 2013: Did Tim Duncan’s Wife Cheat on Him?
Amy Sherrill filed for divorce from her partner, Duncan, in March 2013, ending twelve years of marriage. In her filings, she accused the NBA star of infidelity. Around the same time, an anonymous source told The Hollywood Street King that Amy questioned Duncan’s sexuality and claimed he had a male partner.
The source also alleged that Amy cheated during the marriage, though Duncan was willing to keep the split quiet to avoid public exposure.
The divorce came as a surprise to Duncan, who was preparing for the Spurs’ playoff run. He countered with accusations of his own, claiming Amy was involved with her personal trainer, Gilbert Urbano, and even hired a private investigator to look into the matter. Since the case was filed during the postseason, Duncan asked the court to postpone proceedings until after July.
In August 2013, Judge David A. Canales granted the divorce in an off-site hearing held at the office of Duncan’s attorney, Sue Hall. The judge explained that the unusual arrangement was made to avoid disruptions at the courthouse, though legal observers noted such exceptions are rarely given.
Duncan also reminded the court of the prenuptial agreement the couple signed before their 2001 wedding, following his lucrative NBA contract four years earlier. He asked that the agreement be honored and that his estate remain separate from marital assets.
Tim Is the Father of Sydney and Draven With Amy
Tim and Amy became parents for the first time on June 27, 2005, when their daughter Sydney was born. Their family grew again two years later with the arrival of their son, Draven, on August 3, 2007.

He Is Now Dating a Girlfriend
After his split from Sherrill, Duncan began a relationship with his new girlfriend, Vanessa Macias.
In March 2017, the couple also welcomed a daughter named Quill. Duncan later confirmed the news on an episode of Road Trippin’ with RJ and Channing. He explained that the name was inspired by Peter Quill from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. He also noted the choice fit well since Macias is a passionate writer.
