Myers’ father Fred W. Myers, who owned KFC franchises in Waterloo, died on January 23, 1996, at the age of 75. Her mother, Wilma, born on September 19, 1923, died at 53 on June 29, 1977.

Gacy, who was a 1963 graduate of Northwestern Business College of Chicago, worked as a management trainee at NunnBush Shoe Company. Later, he was transferred to the clothing store as a salesman in 1964 & then promoted to department manager of the concern’s retail outlet.

Divorced In 1969, What Went Wrong?
Following 5 years of marriage, Marlynn and John Gacy’s divorce was finalized on September 18, 1969. At that time, their son and daughter were 3 and 2 years old, respectively. The reason for their split was her husband’s conviction on the charges of child molestation.
In March 1968, Gacy faced a charge of sexual assault (for an incident of August 1967) on a minor Donald Voorhees Jr. On May 10, he was indicted on the sodomy charge and pleaded guilty on November 7 that year.
On December 3, 1968, he got a sentence of ten years of imprisonment That very same day, Marlynn filed for divorce claiming the couple’s property, alimony & full custody of their kids, which followed with a judgment in her favor. Since then, neither she nor her children saw John Gacy.
Post-Divorce Life: Did Marlynn Myers Remarry?
An article in the New York Times in 1979 mentioned that Myers had remarried after her divorce from John but the details of her married life remained under wraps.
On the other, her ex-husband Gacy exchanged vows with his former high school girlfriend Carol Hoff. They got engaged in August 1971 and married on July 1, 1972, which made him a stepfather to two daughters from Carol’s previous marriage. However, their marriage lasted only three years as they divorced on March 2, 1975.
Myers’ Former Spouse Conviction As Serial Killer And Execution
On December 21, 1978, John Wayne Gacy was arrested on the charge of 33 murders of young boys and men. After more than a year of the trial, he was found guilty & convicted of serial killings from 1972 to 1978, which earned him a name as the Killer Clown.
He received a death sentence on March 13, 1980. It was after 14 years on death row, that Gacy was executed with a lethal injection on May 10, 1994, at Stateville Correctional Center.
